I've installed HiFiBerryOS into a RPi 4 with DAC Pro, and connected the output to the analog input of a Yamaha YAS-306 sound bar (in order to get more robust playback from Logitech Media Server). But the volume is very low, even though the setting in the HiFiBerryOS interface is at 100%. Is there any solution for this?

florit Hello did you trying Bluetooth???
-
Martin Brampton Thanks, but I’m not sure how that would help. The DAC2-Pro doesn’t have Bluetooth output, SFAIK. And adding the limitations of a wireless link when the devices are a few inches apart and have connectors seems perverse!
Yamaha MusicCast has been a big disappointment. Initially, it seemed great, but it has connectivity quirks and poor support. I had bought a few MusicCast devices by the time there was a six month failure in Yamaha support for Qobuz. I sold off most of them, the sound bar is now the only one that matters. It is quite likely that it will stop receiving BBC radio later this year.
in theory LMS can stream directly to MusicCast using Air-Play. But MusicCast doesn’t consistently make connections. (Yamaha blames different WiFi bands, but I don’t see why that would be an issue as access points should be transparent to traffic). Hence the wish to drive the sound bar from an LMS compatible player.
it ought to be simple. I’m not at all clear why the signal from the DAC doesn’t seem adequate for the sound bar analogue input.

florit But the raspberry has Bluetooth !

Martin Brampton Yes, but then you must expect to lose quality. Bluetooth audio uses its own codecs, it doesn’t transmit the original digital stream. Why should that be necessary?

florit S16LE as Format with 44115Hz and resampler speex-fioat-1 is a bad choice for mp3 playing?
Ok well the Yamaha speaker makes different sound … is there a data sheet of this speaker? -
Martin Brampton Recorded music or streaming is FLAC, up to 96 kHz or more. Spec is https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/audio_visual/sound_bar/yas-306/specs.html

florit I see … are there 2 rca ports or one? This can be an issue if one rca you need 1) a special rca cable 2) a plug from reb/white rca to mono rca
mostly selling as subwoofer rca to 2x rac cable or plug

Martin Brampton The Yamaha analogue in is a conventional pair of RCA phono sockets. As is the output from the DAC2 Pro. I have a pair of 50mm cables with phono plugs. But it seems the output level is below the sensitivity of the input, unless there is something in software that I haven’t understood. Seems surprising, though.

florit Use the volume button on the Yamaha 306

Martin Brampton That’s a possibility. I’m used to being able to control volume on the digital signal. The system isn’t operational right now, but I will try your suggestion when it is.
