Best way to install, manage and support Roon?

I installed it and configured, but when the OS got updated, Roon got lost. After a few rounds of this, I eventually gave up. What's a better (the best?) way to do this?

What do you mean by "lost"? Is it enabled in "sources"?

I mean that I have to reinstall it. My memory is that, at that time, enabling it did nothing.
I had to also install it from Roon manually. And also after every OS upgrade.
I gave up on this some months ago (a year or so?).
I recently cleaned out that room and was reminded of this, and decided to pursue it further.

What was I supposed to have done?

We've never seen this before. Roons works perfectly fine here after every upgrade. I have no idea what happened in your setup.
