Pre-Amp if using DSP ?

If I use parametric EQ,  do I need to lower the input volume to avoid clipping?  Like a Pre-amp?

(I used to need to do this on EqualizerAPO)

I am using the optical input on a HiFiberry DAC+ DSP ,  32bits, and sample rate to match whatever track I am playing.
I use the DSP to do parametric EQ (around +9db of correction)
I then output on the optical out of the DAC+ DSP to my DAC

  If you set filters that increase the volume and you want to run the DSP at full volume, you need to reduce the volume at some point in the DSP processing. 
  
  That means if you have a +9db filter you should set the maximum volume to -9dbFS (or simply reduce it by 9db in the DSP)
