AMP3 + DSP produces loud noise

I just received my new AMP3 + DSP.  I updated my Pi2 to HBOS 20220726, mounted the AMP3 + DSP stack, booted and it worked.

A DSP program version 11 was installed and 12 was offered, so I installed version 12. After that I only get LOUD noise from the System.  :-/

I rebooted, installed the offered version 11, rebooted: LOAD noise.

It looks like the DSP programs offered in the menu (versions 11 and 12) are not compatible with the AMP3 + DSP stack.

Not surprisingly I can use the system when I remove the DSP. But that is obviously not what I want.

  What kind of noise? My guess is that it has to do with the non-existing SPDIF input.

  I'm not a noise expert ;-) but I would call it white noise.

  I really would like to use my DSP; can you provide the original DSP program and a description how to install it?

  The DSP program is on Github. But this won't help you at all as you have this problem with both V11 and V12. We will try to reproce this, but it's gonna take some time.

  But the preinstalled version 11 worked! My guess is that the preinstalled version 11 is not the same program as the offered version 11 from the HBOS menu.

  Hmm. By the way, the stack AMP3 + DSP is recognized as "DAC+ DSP". Is that intended?

  At least the problem is very easy to reproduce:

  1. install HiFiBerry OS 20220726    -> works
  2. install "DAC+ DSP Universal Version 12"    -> white noise
  3. optional: install "DAC+ DSP Universal Version 11"    -> white noise

  I'm not completely sure, but as far as I remember, the preinstalled program had a name different from "DAC+ DSP Universal Version 11".

  Now it's getting strange:

  after I only got white noise with the DSP, I removed the DSP and was able to use the AMP3 alone. Today I reconnected the DSP and was able to reproduce the white noise. After I removed the DSP again and rebooted, there is no sound output any more from the AMP3. When I play a radio station the web GUI displays cover art but the speakers are absolutely quiet. Same with Spotify: the web GUI displays cover art and Spotify shows the track is playing on my HiFiBerry, but the speakers are absolutely quiet. I have checked the volume slider and volume limits in the web GUI and in the Spotify client.
  Then I reinstalled the DSP again -> no sound anymore, not even white noise. Very strange.

  By the way; under sources there is an optical input shown which does not exist on the AMP3 / DSP.

  Looks like your Amp3 isn't detected anymore. The Amp3 might not be plugged onto the Pi correctly.

  Ok, everything is working now.  :-)

  As described in the original post, I used an existing, but up-to-date installation (20220726). Now I started with a completely new installed HBOS and it works. The system is correctly recognized as an Amp3 + DSP Module. Therefore the correct DSP program "DSP add-on Version 13" is offered.

  Sorry for the confusion. But the reconfiguration process in HBOS which should detect the current HiFiBerry board seems to have an error.
