I have a number of HifiBerries around the house and like the simplicity of the dedicated OS. However I wanted to also use it to plug straight into an AMP via HDMI. Is there anyway to enable audio out on the HDMI or will this need some serious mucking around with config and internal audio setup?

HiFiBerry team This is not possible at all. HiFiBerryOS only works with HiFiBerry sound cards.

Audumla Thats a pity. It would make it a very versatile rpi OS if it did

HiFiBerry team Just add a DAC and connect the DAC to your amplifier.

Audumla But that would bypass the high quality DACS in the amp. Having Airplay2 makes HiFiBerryOS one of the first to offer that on an rpi so it would be the easiest way to add that functionality to amps that dont.
