I can't get my library to work - files are on a NAS. Some of my many files are detected, but by far not all. Manually updating doesn't help. It took days to scan the library in the first place ... it's a shame really, because without a working library, HifiBerry is pretty useless for me. If at least I'd have access to the files through some kind of file manager ...
Make sure all files have correct metadata. Without Metadata (artist, track, album), HiFiBerryOS can't handle these.
They are all tagged correctly.
Sadly, I have to second this. I'm using the downloadable soundtrack for the game MONARK as test case and have at least one track tagged with all requested tags:
Track: 1
Ttile: Nihil
Interpret: KAF
Year: 2021
Album Interpret: Not set, but Interpret is documented as fallback
Disc Number: Not set, but should be necessary for multi cd collections
Running mount-smb.sh manually outputs for the given file:
WARNING: root - can't handle /data/library/music/FRITZ.Box/MONARK Limited Digital Soundtrack/01.Nihil.mp3
I used Mp3tag v3.18 to add the missing tags. But maybe the WARNING comes from the cover lookup only - although MP3Tag is able to find a cover itself. Anyway, the track doesn't show up in my web interface at all and no further feedback has been given - at least none, I'm aware of. Any idea where to continue digging?
Update: What I found, is, that if the share has write access, it seems, as if a file called "noalbum" is created. Is this supposed to happen?
Ok, seems to be something completely different, I just digged deep into the issue and my educated guess would be, it is your problem as well, @Hendrik Kirchhof. It is by no means the mp3-tagging, it is the network connection. Given, that your NAS is a similar embedded system, like my Fritz.Box, your connection most likely suffers from stale file handles.
To prevent them, you need to edit the /etc/smbmounts.conf by a SSH connection via Putty or something similar.
There, you want to add at least ";noserverino" as an optional parameter. To get it work with my Fritz.Box, I even had to add ";vers=3,noserverino", as the Fritz.Box doesn't enable V1 SMB for security reasons by default. vers=3 ensures, that a protocol of version 3 or newer is used.
I really hope this helps you as well, as it seems to run smooth here on my end now!
