cannot get usb music to work

I would be grateful for any advice here as I'm still very much a learner. I have a Pi4b 4GB with a HifiBerry DAC2 HD HAT attached and it works fine streaming music etc. The unit is running the latest software (20220726) uploaded today

I would like to play mp3 files from a USB stick but am having problems even getting the Hifiberry to list the music available - the menu is blank when MUSIC is selected.

The USB is formatted in FAT32 - MPD is ON - USB is detected - Library is updated but when the Source 'MUSIC' is selected there are no albums shown.

What am I doing wrong here?

Hi again

I would really appreciate someone from Hifiberry to answer my query above. I just don't know what else I should do here and some technical advice is needed. I have fiddled about with it for over a week and it still won't play (or list) my usb music

Did you check if the USB drive is mounted? What's the output of "mount"?

and see if you can see any errors.

Looks all fine. The getcovers log shows tghat it must have detected some file. You can try

mpc list album

To see if the albums are listed. Do your files have correct metadata?

OK, so what do I do?

These files were ripped directly from my Brennan as mp3 files and they show up on my Android phone & tablets and also on my Rune player. Could you please tell me how I can get this to work on my HifiBerry. I mean, I don't mind not having the art work - just to be able to list (and select) the files would be fine by me.

HiFiBerryOS requires correct meta data. There is no "list files" in HiFiBerryOS. This is different than other systems that have some kind of file-level access.

Same story here...

I upgraded to latest software and now it shows my USB HD under added storage but shows No Music in Sources - Music. Tried updating library in General - Music Player Daemon (whatever that is) but no help!

Point me to a copy of the old software Please so I can go back to a working unit!
