Hi,
I'm interested in developing an audio visualizer, preferably running on the same Pi as HiFiBerryOS and using the HDMI output. Is this feasible, or should I plan on running the visualizer on a separate device? In other words, is there a way for a separate app or plugin to share the audio stream with the HifiBerry?
I am running a DAC+ DSP, as well as a DAC2 Pro with the DSP add-on.

This is quiet complex. While theoretically this is possible, it's not eas
- first you would have to duplicate the audio data
- the app that reads need to monitor other players to know sample rate and bit depth as this will change
- you should not use things like dmix as resampling in software isn't ideal for audio quality
We enevr tried something like this. Therefore I can't say if there really is a way that will work.

Hi Glen,
- In case of DAC+ DSP you can use TOS-Link output which, surpriselly, by default repeats main analogue RCA output.
- In order to utilize this output you can connect cheap Tos-to-RCA (14$) in series with usb DAC (another 14$). Or get old EMU0404 or silimar external usb audio interface with the same functionality build in.
- The only problem - the setup will look messy and uglu.
- Another problem - hifi berry os using pretty basic browser by default, so - no modern javascript visualizers (like https://github.com/hvianna/audioMotion-analyzer) will be runnable on the same raspberry pi.
