DAC+ Pro additional status e.g. AC3 24/96

Hi I've been happily running a DAC+ Pro for a while using AirPlay and Vox to send 24/96 FLACs, along with the some DTS and AC3 material, from VLC or Plex to my HiFiBerry.  I don't know actually what it receives, though.  It could be LPCM.

On the HiFiBerry OS web interface I can see beautiful cover art, but I'd like to add the bit depth, sample rate, and codec that is being converted to analog.

From searching the net, I've come across Sox, but is there a HiFiBerry OS system to monitor and display something like AC3 24 bit / 96 kHz?

Would someone offer a code snippet to get me started?

  Airplay is always PCM stereo. There is no AC3 support in general in HiFiBerryOS

  Hey, thanks for the info that Airplay is always PCM.

  Is there a list of what formats HiFiBerryOS supports in general? 

  For example, PCM 2ch up to 24/192?

  Any other codecs? FLAC? ALAC? AIFF?

  And is there a way to monitor what it's receiving?

  I know I have a bunch of 24/96 from hi-res audio sites. That's why I'm asking.

  There is no such list aas every streaming service uses its own codec and has its own limitation. HiFiBerryOS supports sample rates up to 192/24, but it depends on the streaming service what is supported. Most streaming services don't support sample rates > 48kHz.

  Definitely appreciate the help. It turns out PlexAmp was the player I needed that includes playback format information, but in case anyone is interested, there's another good way to query the hardware to determine various aspects of the audio output, described in the MPD documentation.

  I found no transcoding when playing off a USB drive using YMPD, which was great.
