I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but I'm really hoping someone here will be able to help me. I'm at my wits end here. What I have is a DAC2 Pro that's working intermittently. This is on a Raspberry Pi 4 and I'm using the current Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit. I have to use the 64-bit as FruitBox needs the 64-bit to work properly. That being said, the following problems appear using the preinstalled VLC player as well.
Let me start at the beginning. I believe it's installed correctly. I followed the directions on disabling the on board audio, and when I did it removed the almost all the audio devices (headphones, hdmi 2, and a couple others i didn't recognize. For some reason it still shows an hdmi audio adapter as device 0. The DAC2 Pro is listed as device 1. I also followed the directions on disabling the eeprom and installing the overlays.
I'm wondering if for some reason they might be conflicting? Sometimes i'll start up the pi and it will work coming out of the DAC, but sometimes it will have no audio at all (HDMI or DAC) or even worse, it will come out of the DAC, but it's just a full volume noise I can't exactly describe except as extremely unpleasant distortion.
I have the hdmi sound turned off on the taskbar menu, but i can't seem to remove the device as listed under aplay -l completely.
Any insights on what the problem could be would be very greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!
