I have a Rasp 4 8gb, and the DAC2 Pro XLR. Spotify Premium Family.
HifiberryOS installed.
When I try to chose the HifiBerry in Spotify on my iPhone (12 Mini), I get no sound and the the app jumps instantly to the next song, over and over again.
I can easily connect via Airplay, without any problems...
Help please. Thanx.
Some people have reportet that HiFIBerryOS had been blocked on their account by Spotify:

This is a problem with the server the app asks for the regional IP adress.
To fix this:
Type "sudo nano /etc/hosts", and paste in "104.199.65.124 ap-gew4.spotify.com"
exit and save and you should be up and running again.

I'm not sure if this is just a problem with some Spotify servers or if Spotify is trying to actively block unofficial clients.
Hello, i am very new to the system, i have found out how to connect by SSH, login, etc. I can find the Hosts file now by the Putty terminal, so happy so far :)
When i would enter the line "sudo nano" etc it says "-Bash: Sudo: Command not found".
How to add this command?
Rasp 4 8gb with latest OS from Hifiberry.
You don't need sudo. Just run "nano filename" without the sudo in front of it.
Just succeeded to connect with spotify connect.
-Install program called 'putty' (google it)
-open putty
- type rasperberry pi IP adress (mine is 192.168.50.222) in putty
-enter
-you see a terminal
-username; root
-password; hifiberry (is invisible!)
-type or copy / paste; nano /etc/hosts followed by enter
-scroll down (till you can't go further)
-type or copy / paste;104.199.65.124 ap-gew4.spotify.com
-ctrl x (save)
-y enter (close)
-reboot
And voila spotify connect does work again. It is magic......
Check before you start if your SSH application is connected.

Thanks for the workaround, it fixed such a weird behavior.
If we'll be forced to abandon Spotify Connect, will there be a loss of quality passing to Airplay or Bluetooth, when streaming from Spotify?

Bit by bit a I did scrape this information from the internet. I even did not know how to save and exit in Putty. I did try to make a simple workaround that even noobs, like me, could understand. Stream Spotify true airplay is not a big deal. But I like that programs work like they suppose to be. For me Hifiberry is a great program because of theirs room compensation option. I think it is time that the hifiberry team solve this problem
