HiFiBerry team That should be fine.

Harold Dale Just wondering how would 6.2 amps be enough? That's only 186w and that's if it were 100% efficient. I've been looking for a PSU that would work all day and not finding much that was more than a few amps. It seems to get the most out of it you'd need more like 10amps or so.

HiFiBerry team You will never run the Amp with 200W power all the time. There is a so-called "Crest factor" that shows the Peak-to-average power ration. With music this is >3, usually even much higher (5-10, depending on the music style). Therefore, you don't need a power supply that can continously deliver the peak power.

Harold Dale Sure I guess that's true, just seems like you would want to provide more though. What PSU do you recommend then? Is there benefit to a linear PSU with this thing?

HiFiBerry team No, "linear" PSU are almost never "linear" (except you use a battery) but switch at 100Hz - which is in the audible frequency range. A well-design SMPS is the best choice.
We recommend this one:https://www.hifiberry.com/shop/accessories/power-hifiberry-180/
