I am seriously considering moving from piCorePlayer to HifiBerryOS for some technical playback issues with Ogg/Vorbis files.

For my considerations it is important to know if HifiBerryOS is running completely read-only (so no SD-card writes) when using the device purely for playback via Squeezelite and Spotify Connect. So no local music stored on the SD-card etc.

Also I would like to know the exact version of Squeezelite that is used in the latest HifiBerryOS (nov 2021).

Can someone put a light on this?

  No, its NOT running read-only. You can find the sources of a specific HBOS release on Github if you want to look up details (e.g. program versions):

  I know that page and it doesn´t give detailed info about the used versions of the programs. For Squeezelite f.e. it only links to the generic github page of the software itself. How can I still find the exact version used in HifiBerryOS?

  I already did, and browsing through the most logical files and directories didn´t brought me any further. A slightly more detailed response would therefore be appreciated. I am not a developer / coder btw, so it might be possible that I missed something during my search on Github.

  Ah, thanks. You meant to log into the HifiBerry itself...

  It is using Squeezelite v1.9.1-1139, which is rather old. No problem though, because the reason for asking is the fact that I probably have found a bug or regression in the latest Squeezelite version regarding gapless playback of Ogg/Vorbis files.
