Would this work to convert TV output to USB audio interface?

Hi! Im looking at a way to convert my Samsung TV's optical output to a Hifiberry DAC+ DSP on a Raspberry Pi4. Connected to the Pi through USB is a Focusrite 2i2 Audio interface (no optical inputs) with Monitor speakers connected through 6.3mm Jack cables.

The TV output signal through optical would be converted by the DAC+DSP board to something usable for the Focusrite to output.

Can this be done? How would I get the signal running through the DAC+DSP to be outputted by the focusrite?

Or is there any better way to do this?

TLDR: TV Optical out to Monitor speakers using XLR, what would be the best way to do this? I have a Focusrite audio interface and a Raspberry Pi 4, would it be a good idea to buy the DAC+DSP board?
