I received a Sony WF 1000 MX4 as gift from someone who is close to me. It’s a very nice gift, but I use an iPhone and an iPad so I’m limited to the AAC codec.
If understand it correctly, HifiBerry OS uses BlueZ for Bluetooth? LDAC can be enabled with the configure parameter:
--enable-ldac
enable LDAC support - requires ldacBT development headers and libraries
but LDACBT must me build first.

There is no support for BT speakers at all in HiFIBerryOS. The codec wouldn't help you. HiFiBerryOS acts as a BT speaker, not as a BT source.
LDAC codec can significantly improve quality of streamed audio. The point is that we can stream audio, for example, from a smartphone with a bitrate about 990 kb/s thanks to LDAC, and not about 320 kb/s via SBC or AAC as it's now. Bluetooth limited only to the AAC and SBC codecs - as it is now - is practically useless if we want to have decent quality audio transmitted via BT. So I am also ask if it's possible to add LDAC codec.

320kB AAC is very "decent", but feel free to create a patch and provide a pull request.
