I'd like to be able to play random music from the collection I have in the Music section of the OS. For me that is the only thing missing. I plan on reading through the GitHub repository but I have no idea what I'm doing there and no nothing about those programming languages so I'm posting here in hopes that someone who already has the skills or may have already added this feature to the OS can guide or possibly add the function.

Ted Dillenkofer Simple controls would be a plus, like pause, play, skip or play one track.

M B Hi, I am voting for this option, it would be a great way to exploit a large collection of songs.
Any feedback welcome!

Julien Hi,
A good fit could be mpd-sima : https://kaliko.me/mpd-sima/
It is available in Debian package repository, I use it for at least 5 years on a raspberry pi 1.
It is a relatively simple Python script, I think it can be easy to integrate.

Cedric HiFiBerry team what do you think? Julien's idea sounds good, doesn't it?

HiFiBerry team No, this would not help at all. That's a Python script for MPD. Almost all sources are NOT mpd-based. Just implementing something for mpd doesn't make sense for us. Implementing it on all sources it a lot of work that we can't spend soon. We're open to contributions, but we don't plan anything from our side today.

Cedric Fair enough! thanks!
