DAC+ DSP failure

I've had this board for around 3 years, it's been intermittantly failing during that period. It will simply stop outputting audio randomly (no power outage, nothing done to it at all). I could get it working again by running "apply-rew-filters" again, but the last time that didn't work - was saying zero slots available.

I have now set up a fresh install of HiFiBerry OS (Pi 3). The dsp page shows the screens below. The board had the "noautomute" xml installed on there initially. Installing either of the universal ones listed makes no difference - the UI shows "unknown" still and I cannot apply the REW filters - "16 filters given, but filter bank has only 0 slots".

Should I just accept that the board is defective and bin it?

  Unknown program simply shows that you have deployed a DSP program that the UI doesn't know. If you apply the DSC+ DSP universal program, you should see it in the UI. 
  If this doesn't work, try rebooting. Also make sure that the SELFBOOT jumper on the board sits correctly.

  Hi, thanks. I did that - as in the original post:

  I have rebooted several times now and I reseated the jumper already yesterday.

  Originally I installed the "noautomute" version from your GitHub to prevent the audiable popping between tracks. This was around three years ago.

  Since installing HiFiBerryOS I tried both of the univeral ones listed in the UI. I think the last one I did was the v12.

  I tried a complete fresh start again - using a different SD card and it now will store the DSP program correctly and I can add the REW filters :)

  Now my question is - I want to use the "dspdac-noautomute.xml" because the default one "pops" between tracks, so should I set it through the command line or is there a location in the filesystem I can place that xml file so that it shows in the list within the UI?
