DAC2 HD - no audio devices found

Hello,

I recently tried adding a GPIO ribbon extension cable to my setup. I got the red blinking light to indicate low power. I removed the cable and considered it a failed experiment.

I reattached my DAC2 and everything was fine for a while, but I tried using it yesterday and no sound was being output. I right-clicked on the audio tab on Raspeberry Pi OS (icon in top right corner) and I got the message "No audio devices found."

I ran aplay -l and the card was still being detected.

Did I cause damage to the DAC2 HD? If so, is it something that could be fixed by soldering on a new GPIO header, or do I need to buy a new board?

  Hard to say. In many cases, this is a software problem or a corrupted SD card. Try a fresh installation on a new SD card.

  Hello HiFiBerry team,

  I had a chance to try a fresh installation and it seems as though the issue is with the DAC2 card. When I disconnected it from the ribbon cable, I did have to use more force than I would have liked, and I noticed some of the male pins on the ribbon cable were bent. I wonder if this might have caused damage to the DAC2?

  At this point, the DAC2 is useless to me, so I am willing to consider options to get it working again. Do you think soldering in a new GPIO header might be a good first step? Could I send it back to you (at my expense) for troubleshooting? I would like to avoid throwing it out, and I am willing to spend some money to repair it, but I don't know what the next best step is. Any recommendations are appreciated.

  We can check the board here. However, if it's defective, there is not much we can do, except in very simple cases.
