Hi, I bought a Beocreate, which I'm connecting to my own speaker system (not Beo-related). I'm getting extremely low volume.
My amixer is set to 100%. I'm just playing a youtube video on the Pi (raspbian), and it's extremely faint. Everything in terms of OS is current through today.
Anything I need to be aware of?
Any help you can provide in troubleshooting would be great.

Should have added, mute jumper was removed. I believe I've done everything else by the book. Pls advise and thanks. -- J

If you believe, you probably did not ;-)
To deploy a DSP profile, you first need to install DSP Toolkit:
https://github.com/hifiberry/hifiberry-dsp
Then you can deploy a new DSP profile. If you don't need to install your own software, it's usually much easier to simply use HiFiBerryOS (https://www.hifiberry.com/os) as you can deploy the profile from the UI and you don't have to deal with command line stuff.

Then, I installed the DSP software per this step: https://www.hifiberry.com/beocreate/beocreate-doc/beocreate-installing-the-sigmatcpserver/
Then, because I want to use 3rd Party Software (Pure Data 0.51-4) enabled the dtoverlay per this step: https://www.hifiberry.com/beocreate/beocreate-doc/beocreate-use-the-board-with-3rd-party-software/
I'm happy to do what you've suggested, but I don't want to duplicate or otherwise mess up efforts. Can you confirm I've taken all of the appropriate steps?
The volume is still extremely quiet.

In case it's useful to know: I am not using a Meanwell adapter (none were available at the time of purchase). The adapter I am using is 63W/18V/3.5A output, effectively equivalent to the Meanwell adapter.

Just installing the Sigma TCP software is not enough, you also need to deploy a DSP profile.
Hi and thanks for your ongoing handholding. I have just spent a bit of time with this and dealing with a bit of a learning curve. I'm unclear on where I can access SigmaStudio. I realize I need to establish a profile and other protocols (which I imagine is the next hurdle) but I can't find the program itself.
As mentioned, on Saturday I followed the instructions for "simple installation on Raspbian" at this link: https://www.hifiberry.com/beocreate/beocreate-doc/beocreate-installing-the-sigmatcpserver/ . Do I also need to follow the TCP Server chapter? The instructions imply that doing the simple setup will suffice.
I have enabled SPI and followed the Installation chapter at this link: https://github.com/hifiberry/hifiberry-dsp
Now I'm trying to deal with the DSP profile format and cannot figure out how to access SigmaStudio (which I believe is the next step, but please advise if not).
If anyone else following this thread has had success with Beocreate working with PD 0.51-4 (or any version for that matter), I'd be grateful for additional input on setup process.

Also - just to confirm - if I install the HiFiBerryOS software per your 3:20 message above - I assume that working out of Pure Data is not possible? (I have written a massive program in PD for an installation, and rewriting that is unfortunately not an option.)
Hi You don't need to use SigmaStudio to install a pre-defined SDP profile. Once you installed DSP toolkit and this works correctly, you can simply install a profile using
dsptoolkit install-profile filename
This is the default profile we're using in HiFiBerryOS:

I'm sure this is an indicator that I've done something wrong in the process, but the result I'm getting from this command is: " can't open filename ([Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'filename') "
Does this give you any indication as to where I've botched the setup?

No, that only shows that you used the wrong command line argument. "filename" is just a placeholder for the name of the file you want to deploy. You need to use the name of the file (you can even use the URL above).
Ok, thank you very much. This is done, and the profile has been deployed. Volume is still low. Any thoughts?

dsptoolkit get-limit
"Profile does not support volume control"
"Profile does not support volume limit"
Looks like you did not install the profile at all.
i am following the instructions you are giving me to the letter.
In this case, something in the setup it incorrect. Try a reboot, sometimes this helps already

Thanks again for your ongoing help. All seems to be operable except for the 60W left channel (the one closest to the power terminal). I have attempted multiple speakers, and multiple speaker cables.... seems to be a dead channel. Is this possibly a software issue? Or is there potentially a problem with the board?

Hard to say. As the boards are tested after manufacturing, hardware problems are very rare. Did you buy it directly from us?
