I recently received my Digi2 Pro to use with my Pi4. Everything is installed with HifiberryOS (latest version as of 6/2/2021). I have an error when I run DMES: ASoC failed to init link HifiBerry Digi Pro: -517.
If I run Aplay -l i have

Yes, I can see that the SPDIF connector is lit red, meaning it should be transmitting correct?

So far, I have tried airplay from my iOS device. I can see on Hifiberry OS that the album displays and that it is "streaming" properly. I've bypassed the Digi2 and used the headphone out on the Pi4 to verify that has audio. What should I try next? I'm new to using Raspberry Pi
I don't understand. How did you do this? There is no headphone audio support on HiFiBerryOS.
Oh, I meant I wanted to verify that there was not an issue with the streaming portion so I plugged headphones into the rPi4 directly to make sure at least audio was transmitting. I am not sure how to test the Digi2 Pro for proper operation.
Yes, but there should be no sound output. This is not supported on HiFiBerryOS. You mean you got sound output?
Oh, my apologies! I tried using Moode Audio to see if maybe it was an OS issue. I had the same result as I did HiFiberryOS (no audio to external DAC>headphone amplifier) In Moode, i was able to get audio out of the Pi4 headphone jack. Sorry for the confusion.
Hopefully you can give me some insight on what may be the problem. Will be out of town for a few days so I will check back again when I can. Thanks again!

No audio via SOX. I don't quite understand how to use mplayer, but it is installed.

Seems to be some hardware issue with either Pi, Digi, DAC or any connection between these. Check the settings of your DAC if TOSLink input is active. Especially with AVRs you often have to configure this first.
The Pi4 and Digi2 are brand new. The external DAC is used with my PC for headphone usage and operates properly via TOSLINK from my PC. Is it possible I have a defective Digi2 board? How would we diagnose that?
The headphone output doesn't say anything. We have seen quite a number of defective Pi's already. If you have another Pi to test with, that would help isolating the root cause of the problem.
My dad has a hifiberry setup similar to mine. I’ll swap components around and see if the problem persists and will let you guys know. Thanks!

So I did some testing today and swapped the Digi2 board to my dad's Pi 3, Pi 0 and it did not work (no audio). We tested both toslink and coaxial. We swapped an older Hifiberry Digi-B+ and it worked correctly on my Pi4, deeming the Pi 4 to not be the point of failure. At this point, I believe that the Digi2 Pro board I have is defective. How do I start a warranty process?

Hello,
I have just set up my third Hifiberry system with a RaspberryPi 4B, a DigiPro and DSP Add-On board. Both boards have been delivered yesterday, the Raspberry is also new and has not been used earlier.
As described above in this ticket I also have no sound on the SPDIF output.
The now-playing shows cover and title, the network led is flickering if audio is sent to the Raspberry.
I have created a debug file but don't know how to append it here.

What DSP profile did you install? Did you test without the DSP add-on?
Hm, I did not install any DSP profile. I installed the Digi2 Pro and DSP module on the Raspberry and followed this guide (https://www.hifiberry.com/docs/hifiberryos/setup-hifiberryos/).
Do you think I missed something? Or can I see the DSP profile in the WebGUI?

I recommend to first remove the DSP and check if you get sound output without this.

Yes, this is a problem as it means youd Digi2 was not detected. It might be a problem of your Pi. First remove the DSP and the Digi, plug on the Digi again and make sure it's plugged in correctly.
HiFiBerryOS should detect it correctly automatically
