DAC+ DSP on Raspberry pi 4 under Ubuntu 21.04 32-bit

To my disappointment I discovered that there are no 64-bit drivers for the raspberry pi and HifiBerry boards.

So I installed the Ubuntu 21.04 server with the Ubuntu desktop on top of that, but I cannot seem to get any sound from the DAC+ DSP device.

I followed the instructions to modify the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

(Added in blacklist i2c-bcm2708

blacklist snd-cos-pcm512x

blacklist snd-soc-wm8804)

and /etc/modules.conf for the DSP+ board,

(added in snd_soc_bcm2708

as well as the /etc/asound.conf., reboot - but still no sound.

When I display the sound options under settings, I only see option for a 'dummy device'

aplay -l does not show any device - no soundcards found

Also Ubuntu does not have /boot/config.txt so there is no way to enable toe DAC+ card.

Any idea where to go from here to get this to work ( without using raspbianOS)? Thanks
