Dear Hifiberry Team,
Is the so called "DSP addon Connector" a full featured Extension Port providing the signals of the 40 Pin Raspberry Interface? Or is it just Providing the necessary signals to operate the DSP?
Since the DSP Board allows to Pass Trough the 40Pin Connector it would be very handy to use it for connecting a rotary encoder or a LCD display.

Great, I were asking because I made an Rotary Encoder according to the settings in the audiocontrol2.conf

This works pretty goodon a regular Raspberry with the latest HBOS version in combination with the HB Digi + Pro as well as with the HB DAC2 HD.
But on the amp100 I could not make it work. I actually tested it on 2 different units and on both it did not work. According to the information on the community and blog, the GPIO's used for the rotary encoder do not overlap with the ones used to control the amp100.
I also have a second topic (feature wish?). Do u think its possible to read the rotary encoder in a reliable way to read simultaneous activities? I am thinking of an "back" / "forward" event while having the encoder knob pressed. That way it would be possible to control nearly all activities with a single rotary encoder. An additional "mute" implemented by a "double click" might be nice as well.
Sorry my mistake. We did not have enough space on the PCB to connect all GPIOs. Only the GPIOs that are used for the DSP add-on are connected. If you don't use the DSP add-on you can use GPIO8-GPIO11 for your encoder.
From us there won't be more work on the rotary encoder plugin for audiocontrol. This was implemented to show developers how to implement a plugin. But we're open for contributions.
OK, no problem. Is the final version of the amp100 board also having this limited GPIO Port?
Will the upcoming ON/OFF power switch have comprehensive remote control capabilities via the embedded Rotary encoder? The current code in Github did not look like this ...
There will be no changes in the GPIO to the final version.
The upcoming HiFiBerry power switch does not have any integrated control capabilities (except power switching). It all depends on the software you're using it with. It only reports the state to the Pi. We don't plan to implement complex controls here, but again, we're open to contributions.
Hello. I have the same situation as @Thomas but I'd like to use a GPIO for power/shutdown. Is there 3 GPIO (Vol- / Vol + / Turn on/off) available when using AMP100?

I've tried to use GPIO-8 and GPIO-11, but I get weird behaviors, sometimes the volume goes down both ways, clockwise or anti-clockwise, sometimes the volume goes up, and sometimes it just does nothing.
Is there something I missed?
In this case, it's most likely a software issue as the Pi seem to recognize some action from the GPIOs.You can check with a multimeter that the signal is also present at the Pi's GPIOs.
If I use only the raspberry and plug the rotary directly to it, I have 0 issue. The rotary changes the volume instantly without any problem. But when I try to do the same trough the AMP100, nothing works correctly…
So I wouldn’t say it’s coming from the raspberry, am I wrong?

As you can see and hear, with the Raspberry by itself, the volume does change as excepted : video-A
When connected through the AMP100, it doesn't make any sense, if I turn the rotary clockwise or anti-clockwise, the volume goes down, sometimes the volume goes up a few ms after turning the button.
Like in this video-B,I use the GPIO through the AMP100, and as you can see and hear, sometimes anti-clockwise turn the volume up, one second after it turns the volume down... and after it doesn't do anything...
Another example with the AMP 100, maybe not easy to hear. What I did 2 steps anti-clockwise (the volume turn down) and then 1 step clockwise (the volume still turn down...) : video-C
If it does make sense to you, I am all hear!
Just check with a multimeter that the connection to the pins of the Pi work correctly.
