WIFI and NAS configuration

Hi, just received my hifiberry hardware and so far have failed to get it configured.

WIFI shows as not connected, though i have nutted out its configuration with wpa_supplicant (UTF8 characters and spaces in the SSID and PSK) and from SSH and from my WIFI AP I can see it is connected.

More worrying:

I can add my NAS in the MPD settings, select the share with media (so the login authentication and network connection to the server are correct and operating.

As soon as I do this the added storage is marked as Unavailable.

There is no Samba log in /var/log/samba/ and I see no other system logs to gather any more information.

Very excited to get this going but so far two crucial elements to accessing my music are inoperable.

  So managed to get Volumio to connect to both the WIFI and the NAS and could test that the DAC produces beautiful audio. WIFI just required manual setup of the SSID and the pre-shared key and the NAS connection required that the SMB version of the connection be explicitly declared.

  This is still a hacky kludge though as the DAC2 Pro is not recognised correctly by Volumio and any restart requires deactivating the DAC another restart and reconnecting the DAC.

  As the DAC2 Pro is not correctly recognised by Volumio I would really rather get HiFiberryOS installed in a workable condition. Hopefullysomeone can assist with my initial query about WiFi and the failure of the NAS connection soon.
