I'm getting fairly loud "pops" when I switch tracks. I think this is when the bit rate of the content changes. I'm running HiFiBerryOS on a DAC2 HD and LMS / Squeezelite. The DAC2 HD is plugged into AVI active speakers.
NB: I have disabled the Crossfade options in LMS for the Player (in Player Audio settings).
I think the pops are unacceptable in a high-quality product. My old Squeezebox Receiver didn't have this issue.

You might check with the squeezlite developers if there is any option to improve this. We're not really using LMS/squeezelite here.
I have the same problem with roon and airplay (when switching source). Loud pops or humming between traks with different bit or samplerate. This ist a new behaviour with the latest Hifiberry OS.

I'm still experiencing this issue and can see other people reporting it. Is there a new version of HiFiBerryos being planned that will address this?
As I wrote above: We don't really use or test the squeezelite player, therefore, there is no specific work on this. While there might be general improvements in future releases, we can't say what might come up in which release.
FWIW, I can safely say the problem doesn't lie with squeezelite, because Max2Play uses squeezelite and I'm not getting the same clicks on your DAC2 Pro when using it. The only reason I don't simply switch is that the DAC2 flips channels (which isn't a problem with line-out, but is definitely a problem with the headphone jack) and Max2Play doesn't have an option for swapping channels, while HiFiBerryOS does.
It happens also with Music Player Daemon, but don't mind HiFiBerry team, they are never wrong and never have flaws in their product. Too arrogant to verify customer claims. Everyone else has a problem in their software but not us, we are perfect, yours, HiFiBerry
