Today I replaced the DAC+ standard with the DAC2 HD. I noticed an enormous volume drop. I'm using Rasbian 5.4.79. Does someone how this can be solved?

Johannes Postma For some reason the default volume level of alsamixer was reset. I changed it and now it is working fine.

TomRR I seem to have the same issue using DAC2 HD - I'm using HiFiBerry OS and Roon, yet I have to turn the volume on Roon up about half way before I get any sound out of my speakers. I am noob to this having always bought ready made DACs in the past - how do I go about changing alsamixer and to what level as I have no idea!! Any help much appreciated

HiFiBerry team Doesn't sound like the same problem. It's normal that output volume will be low or - depending on your amplifier setting - even inaudible on the lower end. Do you have a problem at full volume?

TomRR I'm using genelec m040 active speakers - I have to turn the volume bar up on Roon to halfway around -62 before the speakers come on and start playing which doesnt seem right?

HiFiBerry team Why shouldn't it be right? The DAC2HD has a very wide volume control range. If you want to use a smaller range, you have to change this in the Roon device settings.

TomRR Thanks for the response - I've adjusted the volume range within Roon and that has resolved my issue thanks
