Toslink input Moodeadudio

I have a Pi 3B and the Digi I/O hat. The SPDIF Out is connected to a set of active speakers using coax

The Pi is running Moodeaudio and DLNA and Bluetooth is working fine.

I also want to connect my TV to the setup using the Toslink IN on the Digi I/O.

How can I activate the Toslink In?

I tried: amixer sset -c 0 'Tx Source' 'S/PDIF RX' but then I only get very low pink noise. I cant get audio from the Toslink

I confirmed that the cable is working with the TV (using another AMP).

  After some reading on Linux and ALSA :) I was able to to use the toslink in on Moodeaudio using

  arecord -d 0 -f dat -c 2 | aplay

  This will record the input on Toslink and use STDIN to pass the audio to the SPDIF out. Next step is using a remote to active this playback and I have the upnp streamer with toslink input.
