I am looking to have a small Roon and Bookshelf speaker system in my study. I have a couple of spare Mission bookshelf speakers and a couple of Pi4's kicking around.
Do I simply need the HiFiBerry Amp and wire the speakers in? Will this give a 'reasonable' volume for playback and does the Amp have a DAC built it, or do I need a separate one.

Yes, you only need the Amp2. It will provide enough power for your bookshelf speakers.
BTW: You might have a look at HiFiBerryOS (https://www.hifiberry.com/os) as a Roon endpoint.

I am looking to get the best possible audio from my Tidal subscription and MQA unfolding, so I need the best possible quality right to the speaker connection. Is the Amp2 right for me, or is there an improved offering available or in development?
The Amp100 offers more power, but for your bookshelf speakers, the Amp2 is probably the best choice.

Some people might find it slightly better, but we're talking about really small differences here. None of our boards "comes" with a power supply, but we offer some in our shop.
Do you have a case for the Amp100, as this seems to provide an upgrade path if I ever want to connect an SPDIF into a spare Meridian processor I have?
No, today, there is no case. There might be something coming up, but we're still in the beta test phase for the Amp100
I have compiled the following shopping list, but before I check out, do I need spacers, or are these included in either the case or board boxes?

What can I say, other than WOW!
What an amazing product the AMP2 is. I hooked it up to some Celestion Bookshelf Speakers (4Ohm). I was sceptical about both the sound quality and the possible volume, but this product ROCKS. It's loud (too loud on Max, with no distortion) and crystal clear when playing MQA from Tidal via Roon.
I'll be buying more and suggesting to my Son that he uses them as part of an A-Level Design & Technology project to Upcycle old hifi components.
