My NAS won't mount as it's running SMB1, but I'm not allowed to modify the file (see below).
# /etc/smbmounts.conf
-bash: /etc/smbmounts.conf: Permission denied
also "nano /etc/smbmounts.conf" just gives me an empty file.
Probably just a simple error from my side, but how do I fix this?

nano /etc/smbmounts.conf
is correct. If you did not add a share, it's empty, that's fine
Ok, thanks, maybe I wasn't clear:
My problem is to have the OS log into a SMB1 NAS.
I does show the NAS on the MPD page (see pic below), but the OS will not log in. It says, that it cannot list the shares on that NAS (see picture below).
From another post, I gather that it is the SMB1 that may be the problem.
Have tried to add "vers=1.0" but no difference (and i did reboot on every change).
What would fix this log in issue?
Is this the "nas-62-7E-04 (CIFS)"? The parentheses in the host name probably create problems. I haven't seen this before. What type of NAS is this?
It's a NETGEAR readyNAS DUO, an older but well working model :-)
The text string "nas-62-7E-04 (CIFS)" is what the OS detected including the parenthesis. I didn't add anything and the smbmount.conf file is empty (still)
This probably won't work from the GUI at all. Therefore, your best chance is to add the mount directly into the smbmounts.conf file.
Have tried that also:
\\192.168.0.105\FLAC
but this doesn't show up as a mount
Actually i checked the NAS host name, and it is your OS, that somehow add the stuff in the parenthesis
What have you tried with this?
have added that path in the smbmount.conf file.

I get this and there is still a mount error (invalid argument). The path is 100% correct, incl upper/lower cases.
My input to the smbmount.conf file:

Ok, I just learned that vers=1 should be vers=1.0
