Henner S. Update regarding my comment from March 28, 2021 08:25:
The loud pop while cold starting the AMP100 is still there. I waited for the April release as suggested. I even reflashed the sd card of the RPI3B I am using. Still, the pop hinders me from using my amp. Please help.

HiFiBerry team One thing that might cause this is a defective GPIO of the Pi. Did you try another one?
What's the output of
cat /boot/config.txt -
Henner S. I tried a RPI4 now and that does fix the loud noise. Thanks!
There is still a minor crack while turning the power on and a rather low rumble while booting. But I guess I can live with that. Now I need to establish trust to the amp somehow..

HiFiBerry team In this case, there might be a defective GPIO on your Pi (the one that control the MUTE function)
-
Henner S. So you are suggesting to try just another RPI? Or is there a possibility to test the GPIO in question?
-
HiFiBerry team Just try another Pi, that's the easiest way.

Thomas Dear HB Team,
actually I have similar issues with these INIT noises during startup. And it occures with RPI2,3,3+,4
See https://support.hifiberry.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360015368798-AMP100-init-Crackle-Noise
kind regards,

Jo So Same here. It occurs with RPI 3, 3+ and 4.

HiFiBerry team Make sure you're using the latest HiFiBerryOS release and check if the ap100 driver is beeing used (have a look at config.txt)
-
Thomas Dear HB Team,
its pretty latest Version I assume.
Config.txt --> dtoverlay=hifiberry-amp100,automute
Version:
-
HiFiBerry team In this case, I don't know what's happening in your setup. We don't see this here. Best I can offer is to test the board here in our lab.
-
Jo So I have the pop/noise during startup and switching music.
-
HiFiBerry team Same as my last posting just above.

Brett Gravois Maybe I missed it, but, has anyone successfully connected the 7" touch screen to the ri4/amp100 setup? the video port seems to be blocked by one of the two large capacitors on the board making it so I can't mount the ri4 on the amp properly and add the display cable...

schritti So finally, I have the time to setup an AMP100 client.
I cannot seem to find a description for the power screw terminal. In contrast to the final version, the beta version of the AMP100 only has two screws, whereas the fnal version shows three screws. My terminal says "VPower" and "GND", so no "+" and "-" for me - I looked carefully. Of course, I do have 5,5/2,1 plugs here and could run it but prefer to use screws. Could you please elaborate?
Also, anybody running the power controller together with the AMP100? I have both from the beta phase so just curious upfront.

HiFiBerry team VPower is + and GND is -
-
schritti Ok, so I did the power controler update and the reply from the recommended command was 0x00, I am not too sure what to make of it but it is an answer nonetheless and also, power regulation and volume control work (I can only guess as the virtual fader is moving)
Although used the latest version of HBOS and this recognizes PC and AMP100, I cannot hear a single sound from either snapcast or spotify connect.
Question is: will I need to update the AMP100 the way you described in this thread? (thought I didnt have to as was using newst HBOS version)
-
schritti what are your recommended debugging ideas to have the AMP100 release sound within HBOS?
Due to rpiOS working on the very same setup, I am running out of ideas because everything looks fine on paper as everything appears initialized
-
HiFiBerry team What's the output of
aplay -l
-
schritti having flashed it for the fourth time, everything is working now and I dont have a clue where the problem was as nothing changed whatsoever. Thanks for your input!
# aplay -l
