I installed a new Hifiberry DAC2 Pro on Pi 3B+ using OSMC. The stereo output works fine, but I have no signal on the headphone.
I didn‘t find any settings in OSMC for the headphone output or any other possibility to set the DAC.
Any ideas how to fix this?
OSMC is probably using an older kernel that does not have the headphone support integrated. What's the output of
uname -a

Yes, this is an old 4.19 kernel that doesn't have the headphone driver integrated. You might try upgrading to the latest 5.4. However, note that this might break things and I would strongly recommend at least to do a backup before.
If OSMC is still based on Raspbian (I remember it was, but I haven't check for a long time), a
sudo rpi-update
might do the job.
HiFiBerry team Are there any plans to get the 4.X kernel updated to include the headphone driver please?
Given the 4.X kernel is still in use by several distro's it would be very useful.

It might also be worth adding the minimum supported kernel version to the datasheet for this DAC as it currently doesn't list it.
If nothing else, it might stop some support threads like this.
@Gary: Backporting the driver isn't a big deal. However, that wouldn't really help as other distributions would still stick with their own kernels. There is no way we could provide a kernel that you could simply use on other distributions. Even if copying the files might work in some cases, this might break other stuff.
However, if you don't need the separate volume control on the headphone jack, there's a workaround to set the volume of the headphone amplifier:
1. Enable I2C driver in config.txt (reboot to activate)
2. Configure the amplifier:
| i2cset -y 1 0x60 0x01 0xc0 i2cset -y 1 0x60 0x02 0x31 |

dtparam=i2c_arm=on
The above was already on in config.txt so I just did step 2 and I now have headphone output.

I tried sudo rpi-update, but the command is suppressed by the system to prevent malfunctions of the system.
So I set up an SD-card with latest raspian and Kodi and the headphones worked.
I will wait for the upcoming Kodi/OSMC "Matrix", which will have the kernel 5.4 and is in beta at the moment. Should not take all too long.

Is there any chance to keep these settings permanently?
You can't store this on the card. However, you could create a script that gets started on every reboot.
I managed to get my headphone output working permanently by adding
modprobe i2c-dev i2cset -y 1 0x60 0x01 0xc0 i2cset -y 1 0x60 0x02 0x31
to the file /etc/rc.local before "exit 0". The file should look like that:

Note:
To use i2cset in OSMC you have to install i2c-tools and python-smbus by
sudo apt update
sudo apt install python-smbus
i2c-tools
sudo adduser pi i2c

not sure, if you need python-smbus. Could be working without it.
For these tools, you don't need the python-smbus stuff, but it doesn't hurt either.
