I have the snd_rpi_hifiberry_dacplus. The quality is good with no noise when I listen to music, but when I stop playing sound I get a loud white noise on the output of the DAC. I guess it has something to do with power saving.
How can I fix that ?

This is really frustrating and making the dac plus not usable at all as the white noise is quite high.
I recommend to check with the manufacturer of your amplifier. The DAC+ just shuts down the output.

What is really weird is that when the dac stops playing, for something like 10 seconds there is absolutely no sound (and no noise).
After that loud white noise appears. That's why I think it's not a problem with the amplifier as in the 10 seconds after music playing it dead silent. It looks more with a power saving thing that "release" the dac after x seconds.
Yes, it is a power saving feature that shuts down the output and the output impedance will become very high. That's how the DAC is designed. I can't comment on this specific amplifier as I don't know it.
You might also check your cables. A broken ground connection on a cable can also result in all kinds of crazy behaviour.
Can I prevent this power saving feature from happening ?
As I just checked ground connection on my RCA cable and it looks good. I also switched cables and I have the exact same issue.
All cables I use are high quality RAC (not cheap cables).
What's the exact model you're using and what software are you using?
I have the HIFIBERRY DAC+, I'm mostly using shaiport-sync.
In this case, there's probably nothing you can do as shairport-sync can't send any inaudible data.
You best alternative is probably the DAC2HD that doesn't have any power-saving feature in it's output stage.
Ok too bad I have to buy a new DAC to make this work :(
My first recommendation still stands: Check with the manufacturer of your amplifier.
What should I check with Rega ?
Why this is happening. Explain your problem to them and ask them what you should do. As the DAC+ is working fine with basically any amplifier that we know, there might be some incorrect setting or a problem with your amplifier.
