Has anyone else used one of this relatively new product?
It won't take the latest HiFIBerry software so you have to back a generation for now.
I’ve got one and love it with my second system. I compared it to a HiFiBerry Digi Pro+ feeding a Chord Mojo, which sits on my main system.
it sounds almost identical to my ears. Maybe just maybe the Mojo was cleaner at points?
Note that we uploaded a new experimental release with the bug fix yesterday. You can either download it from the HiFiBerryOS web site or upgrade your older version with
/opt/hifiberry/bin/update --experimental

I think the HiFiBerry DAC2 HD sounds great. I've not done a direct comparison with the DAC+ Pro XLR, but perhaps I will this weekend. Would be easy to connect them to my THX AAA 789 headphone amp, level match and do some A/B listening.
The only unusual thing I've found with the DAC2 HD is that it inverts phase. I've not found a way to change this using ALSA settings, but I can correct for this upstream in my media server (Roon). Overall, I'm quite happy with the $100 purchase, although there are some stand-alone DACs, like the S.M.S.L. Sanskrit 10th V2, that may fit different needs.

Just to say that newest version of OS from November 1st doesn't recognize this card OK. It is recognized as DAC+ PRO and there is no sound.
dzingis: That's new to us and I can't say how this can happen at all. The DAC2HD can't work with the DAC+ Pro driver.
What's the output of

Are you sure you're talking about the DAC2HD and you're not using the DAC2 Pro instead?
I've pinned my kernel to v5.4.51-v7+ because the October 22nd build is flakey (at least on my Allo USBridge Signature, but possibly other Raspberry Pi audio devices too). Here's what I'm seeing:

I'm using DAC 2 HD. It's working great with Ropieee but having challenges with HiFiBerryOS. I also got the DSP board too so I could experiment a bit with the goal of maybe building a pair of speakers with the Beocreate 4 channel amp using HiFiBerryOS and Beocreate software to do all of the crossover stuff in software.
The problem I'm having with HiFiBerryOS is that I'm getting some sound quality problems with the DAC 2 HD. Those problems seem to be exacerbated by the DSP board. I'm listening to, "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye", on the album, "A Tribute to Cole Porter", by The Bass Face Swing Trio. The solo vocals on the intro to the song sound like they're clipping/overdriven. Switching back to Ropieee fixes the problem.
Aside from the possible HiFiBerryOS problems this DAC sounds great. Pretty much as good as my Chord Qutest. Hoping that later revisions of HiFiBerryOS will work a bit better. Right now I'm using v20201101 from Github.
@Douglas: There's a bug in the current DSP profile. You need to change one setting by hand:

I really like what you're doing with the OS and the DSP module. I was playing around the various DSP profile presets, "Clear", "Optimal", "Dark", "Podcast", and found this feature to be very useful. I can imagine using this to provide an easy tool for users to select meaningful presets in a variety of situations. Things like headphone listening, low volume, etc. Once I upload my speaker correction filters I'll have a solution that adds DSP to all off my listening streams - Roon, airplay, Spotify, etc.

The patch worked and I'm getting great sound. Will that setting hold between reboots? If not then where should I add it so it gets set at startup?
No, you need to do this after each reboot until we provide a new DSP profile. We will make sure this is included in the next HiFiBerryOS release.
