Jim Meyer Damn thumbs. I meant to say I’m running HiFiBerryOS on. Rpi 3B+ with a Digi+ pro. Installation and set up using Ethernet went fine and everything works as expected as long as it is connected to the network via cat5. The OS sees all nearby wireless networks and I entered the password foe my 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.
As soon as the Ethernet cable is unplugged the system is no longer available as an airplay or UPnP renderer. I can no longer connect via http://hifiberry.local/.
any ideas why and how to fix this?

HiFiBerry team Try rebooting without Ethernet. If you only booted with Ethernet all the name services might only be active on the Ethernet.

Jim Meyer Thanks for the suggestion but no dice.
I know Wifi is functional on the board and to a certain extent in the OS as I can see all the neighboring wifi networks listed and I can log into mine.
My device just doesn't connect w/o Ethernet. Looking at a list of wireless clients connected to my router I can identify all the clients connected and none drop off when I turn the Rpi off.
Any OS magic to identify the problem? -
HiFiBerry team Are you sure, it does connect to WiFi with Ethernet connected? Sound like it doesn't connect to your WiFi at all.

Taken when the ethernet is plugged back in, obviously.

HiFiBerry team That doesn't show that it's connected. You have 2 "saved" connections but none of these seems to be active.

Jim Meyer Sure. Isn't that because the Ethernet is connected? I mean, I was abel to see the networks, and these two accepted the password... What else is needed to connect and make them live?
Huh. I just told HiFiBerry to "forget" the networks and then re- added one with my my password and re-added the other with a nonesense password. the Results were the same. Both were added to Saved Networks without error. You think I'm not connected because I entered an incorrect password?
Okay. That was it. The network I re-entered the password for is now working. I assumed that because there was no error message that I entered it correctly the first time. Sorry for wasting everyones time.

HiFiBerry team This has nothing to do with Ethernet. The UI can't check your password. It will try to connect with the given credentials. If these are wrong, it will simply time out.
You can check the status from command line using
wpa_cli status
