HiFiBerryOS supports room compensation when used in combination with a DSP board. Wouldn't the same compensation be possible by using the software equalizer? I suppose the main difference is, that the room profile can be stored in the DSP and afterwards it can be transparently used with any OS / application. But is there a difference in quality between a software and a DSP based compensation?

HiFiBerry team There isn't really a good parametric software EQ available that's transparent to the application. The audio quality of alsaeq is not really good. Therefore, we think, the DSP is the best way to do this.

HiFiBerry team Also note that the included software EQ isn't a parametric EQ as we need it for the room eq feature.
