Hello. Is there a screensaver etc for the touch screen? Or is it just always on?

HiFiBerry team You can set an "idle-time" in /etc/xdg/weston/weston.ini

David C. Snyder I've not heard of any burn-in problems with the touch screen, so it's probably not a problem for it to just remain on. Although an option to switch it off when not in use without powering down the RPi might be nice. I'm not sure how this would be implemented. The display driver would probably need to implement DPMS.
Doing some googling, it looks like this solution would not be difficult to integrate into HiFiBerryOS:

David C. Snyder Pretty cool. I'll give that at try once I have my DAC+ Pro with display running this weekend.

armaster Has anybody try this solution and how does it work?
I don't have touchscreen yet but I'm planing to add it to my HiFiBerry OS on RPI3.
I'm looking for screensaver which will shutdown (set blank) display after some time of inactivity (no music is playing).
Screen should become active after any activity:
1. browse/play from other devices as phone, tablet
2. stream via Bluetooth from other device
3. on display touch
4. rotary volume encoder change
Is there any solution for this?
Thanks.

HiFiBerry team The screen won't become active on anything else than a display touch. While the other things can be implemented, they are not on our short-to-midterm list. However, if somebody won't to develop and contribute code, we're open to integrate it.

Daniel Vesely Any chance to use something else instead just "idle-time" in weston? I would like to run something like "feh" based slideshow? Thanks for any hint, just a hifiberry newbie...

HiFiBerry team There will be a nice screensaver contributed by a user in the next release. But this will probably still take about 2 weeks.

Daniel Vesely Great. Thanks for your fast answer. Looking forward! I started to use it two days ago and so far nearly all works out of the box!

Matt Williams Hi, I had set a reasonably long timeout in the weston.ini as I like to see what I'm streaming in the now playing screen on the web browser before it blanks out. The new screensaver is good, I'd like to change the timeout on this to match the weston.ini setting if possible or otherwise disable the new saver as it is coming on too soon. I I can't find any info on whether this is configurable from the documentation in the docs folder, would you be able to point me in the right dirtection, if this is configurable?

Matt Williams I am a donkey. Config is already there in the UI under display settings. Thanks, it's all looking good! ;-\

Neuman Ben HiFiBerry team,
Just curious if there is any update on the screensaver mentioned above ("There will be a nice screensaver contributed by a user in the next release.")
TIA. Ben.
