HifiBerry DAC ADC Pro new but no sound

Hello Everyone,

I am a proud owner of a new Zynthian and hifiberry dac adc pro.
I put the pi v4 kit together as instructed but when I enable to HifiBerry ADC DAC + Pro, the Zynthian boots in the error screen.
When switched to the internal headphones, the device starts and is operable.

I have tried raspbian, hifiberryOS and a raspberry pi 3B with all the different OSs to no avail.
These OSs boot and can see the card after being properly configured (I can even see it in alsamixer) but there is no sound coming out.
The red light even comes on and a second one when playing a track.

I hope I didn't get a DOA :(

Any ideas on what to do next?
Would love to have inputs and outputs

  in journalctl I found:

  snd-rpi-hifiberry-dacplusadcpro soc:sound: ASoC: failed to init link HiFiBerry DAC+ADC PRO: -517

  The -517 error is just normal, it simply says that another driver is not yet loaded. The system is configured just fine. However, I don't know anythiong about the internals of Zynthian. You might have to change some configuration to make sure it uses the right sound cards. It's might be better to ask in the Zynthian forum.

  I have opened a topic in the Zynthian forum in parallel but would like some support on getting the card to work on raspbian.

  OK so if the 517 error is normal, why am I still not able to play a sound with aplay?
  I keeps saying that there are no channels available.

  I have also tried setting the volume in alsamixer (where the card is shown) but there is still no audio out!

  I have now found that with aplay, I am able to view the card and it does not give an error when executing playing a sound.

  However, I still dont have any sound coming out.

  Any hint or help would be greatly appreciated as I have exhausted quite a lot of possibilities.
