How to access my music?

Completely new install on 3B with Digi HAT. Connected to internet via wifi running from 4G in the initial configuration.

Basic problem - I can't access any music!

When I click to enable the Spotify plugin - it displays "Turning Spotify Connect on"  message forever

Under "Music Player Daemon" I can see the drive of mp3s I've set up on by Ubuntu laptop as a NAS drive but no idea how I can play any music from it!

http://hifiberry.local/#now-playing shows "no source" in top left and no music is available

Pi boots up fine but stops at the logo page with "Starting MPD control interface" message - is this right?

journalctl -f gives lots of worrying messages about mpd connection failure

I've downloaded the debug logs if they would help to post here

  Interesting. I'm not sure what happened here. Try logging in via SSH and run
  
  systemctl restart mpd & journalctl -f -u mpd 
  
  What does this output?

  Here we go. Just wondering, could this be a power issue? I just realised my PSU only delivers 1A, not sure what is recommended for Pi 3 + hifiberry HAT

  The yellow 'lightning' warning isn't appearing (when I connect it to a monitor).

  Ok, looks like MPD is working now. Unfortunately I can't say why it didn't start before. You might also have to start mpd-mpris using
  
  systemctl restart mpd-mpris

  Yes will try that - however the Pi network is very shaky. I'm getting a 2A power supply tomorrow, so I'll let you know if that plus the mpd-mpris restart solves things. I still can't access spotify or my NAS library content.

  OK, well it wasn't the PSU (now using the official one) so I'm suspecting it's problems through attempting to setup with wifi. Repeatedly it goes through the setup, sometimes successfully but then I lose the connection to hifiberry.local and after each reboot the Pi reverts to the 'setup' network. The Pi is sitting right next to my laptop PC.

  I am beginning to wonder if it's really possible to setup on wifi (yes your guide does advise against it). Sadly I have no ethernet connection available but I will see if I can borrow one from a friend sometime.

  Guess I'm stuck until then?

  Debugging WiFi is almost impossible if this is your only connection as you can't login if WiFi isn't working. Therefore, at least for debugging purposes, Ethernet is highly recommended
