HiFiBerry team What do you mean by "lost local db"?
If /dev/mmcblk0p4 is not mounted, most likely the file system is corrupted. If this happened several times already, my best guess is a corrupted SD card. Reformating it again won't help. You should try another - new - SD card.
-
Luyckx Bart /dev/mmcblk0p4 is not mounted. Sometimes I don't see the music option under sources.
I don't think the SD card is currupted. I checked it with badblocks -n -v /dev.
Today I started it again and the artist / album list is empty. Restarted everything again and the music is back. For some reason when stating up the /dev/mmcblk0p4 is not mounted.
-
Luyckx Bart I did some more checks. Sometimes when I boot the system doesn't see the /dev/mmcblk0p4 drive with df -l command
When I try to mount it too /data. it said "'already mounted or mount point busy'"
fdisk -l gave following result :
Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type/dev/mmcblk0p1 * 1 65536 65536 32M c W95 FAT32 (LBA)/dev/mmcblk0p2 65537 3065536 3000000 1.4G 83 Linux/dev/mmcblk0p3 3065537 6065536 3000000 1.4G 83 Linux/dev/mmcblk0p4 6066176 384503807 378437632 180.5G 83 Linux# df -hFilesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on/dev/root 1.4G 635M 705M 48% /devtmpfs 829M 0 829M 0% /devtmpfs 958M 0 958M 0% /dev/shmtmpfs 958M 4.2M 954M 1% /runtmpfs 958M 0 958M 0% /sys/fs/cgrouptmpfs 958M 12K 958M 1% /tmp/dev/mmcblk0p1 32M 15M 18M 45% /boot/dev/mmcblk0p4 181G 108G 74G 60% /data => sometimes this is missing!!!The mounting process doesnt seem to go correctly everytime.Rebooting the system a few times till things are OK...but I dont think this is the way to go. -
HiFiBerry team In your exmaple, /data is mounted correctly already. We need to see an example when it isn't. Next time you see that it's not mounted please post the output of
df -k
fsck /dev/mmcblk0p4 -
Luyckx Bart # df -k

Luyckx Bart Also RADIO as source is missing in the menu
-
Luyckx Bart after 3 time reboot, all works fine again
-
Luyckx Bart I restarted it 3 times in a row without problems. then the problem starts again. I also can not play radio. It has been moved to disabled partion. When I go into the radio and choose a canal it doesnt play. When i go out and back to sources menu, the radio is in the available partition, but after a second or so it moves back to the disabled partition.
I made a debug file from the system but dont know how i can send it. It only allow pictures and not zip file
-
HiFiBerry team It looks like the file system check on a large partition like this might take too long if any errors have to be corrected. I'm not sure if we can do anything about this easily. In any case you have to expect very long boot times. That's one of the reasons we don't recommend large SD cards, but external NAS or USB storage.
-
Luyckx Bart What do you mean by very long boot times? System is up and running within 30 seconds.
How about the radio source that moves to disabled sources? I can find a radio station but can not play it.
Why it restart sometimes after a few retries?
-
Luyckx Bart How can i see it it needs to correct some errors?
-
HiFiBerry team Problem is that your large filesystem might need a long time for the check. As the music player in the background needs to access this file system, it doesn't get started. Therefore, also Radio is disabled. I'm not sure if we can reproduce this problem here somehow.
-
Luyckx Bart Very strange, System always starts up withing 30 seconds...with or without proper mouting of /dev/mmcblk0p4
If i reInstall Hifiberry OS it always find the DB. Doesnt there need to be a connection first before it van check errors? The mounting is not successful sometimes
-
Luyckx Bart Just reinstalled Hifiberry OS all was fine after. Restarted it and the music can not be found. Restart again and all is fine...
100Gb of music isn't big library I think.
-
Luyckx Bart Since I stop the music playing with the music player daemon before shut down, it didnt occur anymore that the DB was broken.
-
HiFiBerry team It's probably caused by something different, but it's ok, if this works for you. We add some changes to the next release that hopefully make mounting the SD card more robust.
-
Luyckx Bart I start loosing the Db again on the local sd card. When the next release will be available?
If its not working then maybe have to move things to USB thumbdrive.
Is it possible to add serveral USB thumbdrives for 1 music database?
-
HiFiBerry team We expect the next release next week. Yes, you can use multiple USB sticks.
BTW:You're not "loosing" the DB, it just seems that the system sometimes doesn't mount the /data partition correctly. This can be fixed from command line. -
Luyckx Bart Thans for replay. How can i fix it from commandline?.
It would be easily then to reinstalll the os again -
HiFiBerry team try
systemctl stop mpd
fsck /data
mount /data
systemctl start mpd
systemctl restart beocreate2 -
Luyckx Bart i tried it, needed to do start deamon aswell (came as instruction when i performed systemctl restart beocreate2)
Even then it didnt work but after restart of the system all was fine.
Still very annoying...hope that release from next week makes things more stable
-
Luyckx Bart Still struggling with the music on the SD card.
All is fin at startup. Drive is mounted correctly, all the folders and files are there, but in hifiberry/local the artist and album folder is empty.
Restart the library from the commandline or from the menu (latest version OS) doesnt help. :(
-
-
Luyckx Bart Updating library from the menu make the "updating library" spinning forever sometimes.
-
Luyckx Bart How can I upload the debug-file?
added the file in https://support.hifiberry.com/hc/en-us/requests/15400
-
HiFiBerry team We don't need a debug file. My guess is still that your SD card is corrupted. Unfortunately There is nothing we can do to debug this remotely.
-
Luyckx Bart i updated the DB with : /opt/hifiberry/bin/update-mpd-db takes a long time...but then it is OK again. Is this an issue from the SD or from the DB? I want to be sure before I buy new SD
-
HiFiBerry team I can't say. We do not recommend to use a large SD card to also store the music. It's usually best to store music on a NAS. If you don't have one, put your music at least on a separate USB stick.
-
HiFiBerry team BTW: You seem to reboot your system very often. It might be also good to just leave it running.
-
Luyckx Bart yes I reboot it very often, just swich it on when I want to listen to the music. Is this not normal?
DAC is on main swichboard/filer with amplifier ( for conveniences) which is class A and draw 5A continuously...i dont want that heat source on all the time
How long it takes to build the DB (120GB so far)? If I use separate USB it needs to rebuild everytime i plug in the USB or boot the system?
