Hi,
I try to install a touchscreen with hifiberryOS (20200727). When starting up hifiberryOS, the touchscreen is shown as graphic "HifiBerryOS" and "web interface ready at http://192.168.25.3".
How to show hifiberry UI on the touchscreen? Is there any setup procedure?
When I do switch on in General > Display > User connected Display, there is no activate UI on the touchscreen.

When you switch this on, you have to reboot first.
Yes, I did reboot, but not working UI on touchscreen.
- When I did switch on "user connected display" there was "Turning external display on .. " but hanging forever.
- Is there anyway for setting in SSH ?

I tested in rb4 and rb3b with beocreate 4ca. Result was same.

systemctl enable --now cog.service weston.service
I'm having issues with this too.
I'm on a pi3b+ and in the web UI you enable the connected display which in my case is the official 7 inch connected by ribbon to the DSI all that happens is it stays on a screen turning connected display on indefinitely.
I tried the above over SSH but nothing happens, it seemed to accept my user and password but just put a line break in not the normal when you log in to SSH and you get some welcome and ASCI art... not sure if thats normal..
Any tips?
This seems to be a problem in the latest release. I recommend to go back to the previous version. We'll see how this can be fixed and will probably create a new release sometimes next week.

I have just been bugged enough to fix my old pimusic box spotify connect system and i have a DAC+ form about 3 years ago looking forward to getting back on to a system which is being maintained and has good support! probably going to end up with 2 more DACs and AMPs at this rate...

Or is the SSH issue something else i need to look at?
SSH is working fine here. Maybe you did not use the correct username/password?

If you're willing to experiment, you might try the latest experimental release using
/opt/hifiberry/bin/update --experimental
New version 20200805 is working well for toutchscreen.

Hey guys,
I'm setting up a rpi4 with hifiberry and the official 7" display, the display works no issue but I can't seem to get the touch working. I've never used the official display before. I have a couple questions.
Do you need all four wires (power, ground, clock, data)? or just power and ground. I think the hifi berry boards already use the i2c lines so I didn't try that.
Do you need to change anything in the config.txt file?
I tried it with both a rpi3 and rpi4, both using version 20200908. I also haven't tried to down grade to a different OS yet.

We have heard a similar report from another user. Not sure if there is a bug in the latest version. I don't have a touchscreen here ready for tests.
Can you try the 20200805 relase?

Note that you have to enable the local display first from a remote web browser in this release as it was disabled by default

I will give the older version a try later today. With regards to enabling the display and rebooting, the first time I booted with a fresh image was with the display attached and it already had the "use external display" active, in fact the display worked first boot, just no touch. Which may be causing the issue perhaps. I'll try two things later, I'll try first boot on new image without display (then activate it), and then I'll try old image with and without display on first boot, then I'll report back.

You don't have the remove the display. The startup mode of the local web browser had just change. We disabled this on 20200805 but it was confusing to some people. Therefore we re-enabled it again.

I can confirm using 20200805 version works. I also upgraded to the newest version 20200908 though hifiberry OS, in which it stopped working. So must be something with the newest release.

*Update*
When I tried to revert the upgade to the backup, the touch supoort no longer works either. I then reformatted the SD card with 20200805, and it's back working. So whatever is changing from the update cannot be undone through the backed up OS.
Ok, this might be some missing firmware or overlay file. These won't be reverted during the existing upgrade process. We're just changing this. The next release should not have this anymore.

We're working a lot on changes for the the 5.4 kernel (currently using 4.19), therefore we can't say, but you can probably expect a new release this month.

If somebody really wants to try an experimental release (it's really fresh and not tested a lot), you can upgrade to the experimental build from command line:
/opt/hifiberry/bin/update --experimental

Hi there, I just switched from a pi3b to a 3A+ ....on the 3b the touchscreen works perfectly, on the 3A+ I get “hifiberry os” at the loading screen and a cursor or the log in text once it’s booted fully, looking in Display the option to “use connected display” isn’t there, after finding this thread I tried “systemctl enable --now cog.service weston.service” which did turn the screen on but without touch capability and the option under display is still missing, tried a reboot, the screen did come on allowed me to select one thing before stopping working again, if I power off for longer then reboot I have to renter the command to get the screen back on. I tried reflashing my card and then updating to the latest version (using pi3 image) but I’m still having the same issues , using that card in the 3b the screen works as expected and the menu option shows up! Any ideas???
