I have a couple of Amp2s and am giving HiFiBerry OS a go (have previously been using Moode). Really like the look of it so far.
I was wondering if there is anyway to increase the number of radio stations available. Mainly to add BBC Radio 1 to 4.
If is is not an easy config change could you could point me in the direction of the code responsible in the github repo so i can have a look myself.

Looking into it a bit more i can see the following file in github:
Which is located in ./opt/hifiberry/bin/start-radio on an live OS. It seems this is the script that loads a station to play.
The folder /opt/beocreate/beo-extensions/radio has index.js that calls this script
Any further info of if i'm on the right track would be appreciated
You can add your own stations by editing /etc/beocreate/radio.json
However, you do not need this for BBC 1-4. Just enter BBC in the search field and they are listed there. I just checked this here.
Hi I can't find BBC Radio 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 when I search for BBC in the radio search field, am I missing something? It brings back results for some of the counties but not all of them and the world service but no 1 to 4? Plus to add more how do i edit /etc/beocreate/radio.json from ssh without nano?

You can also edit files using vi.

I also can't see the other stations, only the local ones you mentioned, but i was able to add them by modifying editing radio.json.
I would suggest you use built in vi text editor to change the file. You will need to learn a few vi commands to use it if you haven't before. Here is a guide: https://www.guru99.com/the-vi-editor.html

Alternately you could create the radio.json file on your local machine and then scp it onto the pi to overwrite the existing file.
I have added the json code to create radio 1,2,3,4 & 6 to a paste bin here. This is the entirety of my file but if you have already saved some favourite radio stations copying this over radio.json will delete them. In this case you will need to edit radio.json first and merge them in. The format is pretty straight forward.

If you want some more logos for the stations get them from a search on wikimedia
After you have added / edited the file reboot the pi and they should show up in the favourites section in all their BBC radio glory.

Hi, thanks all for the responses. Yes I am in the UK. I can manually open the stream(s) for Radio 1 and Radio 2 in any number of browsers/app including the ympd interface from HiFiBerry OS. I will have a go with vi, looks like a flat edlin. Don't want to loose all the soma stations so i'll merge. HiFIBerry Team and hygap thanks for all help.

The original question was about how to add extra radio stations. For example I would like to add the various radioparadise.com streams or bluesflac.com. I have the URL's of the audio streams. I am not comfortable with editing "vi /etc/beocreate/radio.json".
Will there be an easy way in the HifiBerryOS GUI to add radio stations?
(E.g. Volumio, Rune or MoOde have that possibility in their GUI, but I like the stability and clear interface of HifiBerryOS much more)

A web interface for this specific configuration isn't planned - at least not by us or in the near future.
Adding a station to the configuration file isn't really a big thing. It's simply a few lines to add. If you're not comfortable with vi, there is also "nano" available on current releases.

Is it useful to place request with radio stations or streams to be added by you to the hifiberryos radio index?

Nano and vi are just text editors:

We can't add radio stations to the index as we don't have our own index. As of today, radio stations come from TuneIn and we don't have any control over these.
If you just run
nano /etc/beocreate/radio.json
you can edit the file. The easiest way is to just add a favorite via the UI and edit it then:
Simply replace the values of title, img and url with the radio station that you want to add.
When I'm adding radio stations manually through editing radio.json I don't see any changes. It's even worse: when I add favourites from web interfaces, radio.json is ovewritten. Should I restart some service or so to get list updated?

Yes, you need to restart the web interface (beocreate2.service)
When editing radio.json, what are the requirements for the 'id' at the beginning of an entry? Does it only have to unique?
And are there any limitations for the image (file type, size)?
Image should be JPG or PNG, ideally square. Id just have to be unique

Looking at the linked BBC announcement it almost looks like the stopped streaming via open protocols and only support their app now.

I checked these in the UK on the PC with VLC and they all stream ok.
HiFiberry doesn't appear to play any of them. What is it expected to play?
Ideal targets would be the AAC .m3u8 streams.
(the Web stream needs a "play button" to be pressed.

This is working well. As we're not in the UK, I can't test the UK streams.
I went back and revisited it. I must have had finger trouble, as i can now get it to stream the BBC stations I want.

Looking for some help trying to add BBC radio streams as I don't seem to be able to get it working. The BBC have recently decommissioned some streams that worked well for me (but not using HiFiBerryOS), however there do appear to be newer versions listed here: https://gist.github.com/bpsib/67089b959e4fa898af69fea59ad74bc3 that don't work properly with my old setup, which is what has led me to try something new - HiFiBerryOS.
These are all of type m3u8, which seems will be supported given the comment 2 above this one. That particular style of link has stopped working though.
I've tried adding some new entries to /etc/beocreate/radio.json however they don't seem to work - no error that I can see, just silence, here's an example:
