I reconnected the speakers to my Amp2 after re-flashing the RaspPi, and when I plugged it in, there was a loud pop from the speakers followed by the lovely aroma of crispy fried electronics from the subwoofer. Turns out it's really, really easy to connect one of the speaker wire pairs to the hardwired power-in connectors (which are the leftmost connectors on the speaker connector block), and apparently that's wired in parallel with the regular power jack.
Took the sub apart to see if I could replace the blown component, and found that the speaker cones were shot, so I was going to have to replace the thing anyway. But it would be kind of nice if there was some more warning of this hazard, or if the power connector block was a different color or something.
