Today I suddenly had my beocreate amp making extremely loud noise like an alarm system went off.
I am using Hifiberry OS and the digital input was connected to my PC which was switched off.
Another PC might have autoconnected via Bluetooth yet no sound was playing. The sound didn´t stop when I disconnected the bluetooth connection.
Any idead what could be the cause?

It happened again. It seems to be related to a PC being connected to Bluetooth.
Once I started the second PC which only has a optical input the sound suddenly stopped.
Also the sound is initially mixed with the Windows sound for connecting/disconnecting devices.

It doesn´t seem to be the PC with Bluetooth, I even get the issue when its not connected.
The device connection sound is from the Hifiberry (like when you start it), not Windows.
What is strange is that the sound stops when I unplug the optical cable even when no signal is transferred through it!
I just unplug it and it stops at least for a moment.
Could it be stray light coming in?
Yes, the TOSLink input sometimes can pick up a signal even if no full SPDIF signal is sent. Best way is to turn off TOSLink input when it's not in use.
I just got out of a sudden an extremely high pitch noise out of the blue.
Its really annoying.
I was just checking the DSP program (not changing anything) while listening to some music.
I remove the optical input and its gone.
I plug it back and the sound comes back. Now I remove it again and the sound stays until I remove power.
What could be the issue?
The DSP sometimes picks up a signal if no clena TOSLink signal is feed. Disabling the SPDIF input in sources should fix this.
I am using the Toslink to play music to it from my PC. Disabling the input means I have no signal at all.
What was strange is that the music kept playing but the noise was imposed on it.
The noise seemed to be at full volume even though the vol slider was at approx 2/3rd.

Did you try turning SPDIF off?
No I unplugged power as fast as possible as my ears were hurting while the speakers were blasting high pitch noises at full volume.
I don't see how it can help as I am listening through this input.
I will have to watch for it to happen again.
If I turn off spdif when it happens again what then? I need the SPDIF!

any updates regarding that topic, this is also happening in my setup?
I think to turn off SPDIF each time I am off from my PC for a view minute is not really a handleable solution, do you?

Unfortunately, this is a specific behaviour of the hardware. Turning off and on the SPDIF is the only way to deal with it if the SPDIF input picks up noise.

is the behaviour also known in the newer models of the BeoCreate or only in the older ones?
Further I am not entirely sure if this should be brought in here but after the last occurrence of the loud noise problem it seems that there is a DC signal on the output to the speaker. It is on all channels and it is reproducible but only on higher volumes --> volume > 30% of vol. max.
