Hi Technical Support,

Is the Beocreate 4 DSP section compatible with loading OpenDRC compatible filters?

If not, are there plans to have a HiFiBerry 4-channel DSP + Amp that is OpenDRC compatible?

I really like this idea of RPi compatible 4-channel DAC + AMP with onboard DSP, but I would like to use better 3rd party software like Audiolense or Acourate to create the filters.

I think the potential of this product is a bit limited with the software that is supported.

The ability to use other software (OpenDRC compatible for example) would really open up so many more possibilities.

  The DSP is fully programmable using SigmaStudio. We don't limit what you can do with it. You can even run around 10k long FIR filters if you wish. You have to create your own DSP profile for this.
  
  We're not working on an interface for FIR filters. In our opinion, they are complex to deals with and also have some disadvantages that we think are bigger than their advantages. I understand that other users might feel different. These advanced users can create their own DSP filtering algorithms using SigmaStudio (which also allows to import FIR filters).

  Can you advise where I can find information about what types/formats of FIR filters SigmaStudio allows to import?

  Is OpenDRC compatible files supported?

  You can find SigmaStudio the documentation and download here:

  If you want to deal with FIR filters, you can't just "import a file". You really have to understand how these work and how they should be implemented best including normalization of signals.

  Thanks but when I say 'import a file' I mean files generated using other software like Audiolense and Acourate.

  You mentioned "SigmaStudio (which also allows to import FIR filters)" but I can't see what types of files are supported, even in the documentation section. I was looking through this yesterday.

  You can import FIR components in CSV files. A FIR filter is simply defined by a list of floating point numbers. However, you have to understand how they are being processed. If you're looking for something were you can just import something with 2 clicks, that won't work.

  When I see this guide below, it reads like I don't need to use SigmaStudio? I can do all measurements in REW and REW can create the filters in .txt format and I can import them to the DSP board?

  SigmaStudio is not required in this case?

  In this case, only a DSP profile with enough filters is needed. The default profiles come with 16 filter slots which is plenty for almost any practical room eq applications.

  Thanks. Is the Beocreate 4 in stock and shipping?

  I saw some comments on other forums that it is not in stock for a while now.

  Yes, it is.
