I have hifiberryos v. 20200424 running on a Raspberry Pi 3 B with a hifiberry DAC+ and connected to my router via wifi.
Whenever I start playing music with Spotify Connect (using my iPhone as remote) it stops playing after a while.

Thanks, I understand the thread you have referred me to suggests to avoid inserting my spotify credentials in the hifiberry settings. I note that the latest version (which I am running) no longer permits the user to enter these credentials, so this cannot be the cause of the songs skipping.
(incidentally, I had in fact inserted my credentials before the upgrade, but those no longer appear).
Please help.
If you did add the credentials before, they are still there. You need to remove it directly from /etc/spotifyd.conf using SSH and an editor. Or roll back to the old version, remove it via the UI and update again.
Thanks, I went in via ssh and deleted the entries under username and password in spotifyd.conf (they now read blank after the "=").
I tried using spotify connect again and it sill stops playing after a few minutes.

Thanks, I restarted and realized I could no longer enable spotify connect in the web interface. So I removed the username and password lines entirely in the conf file and rebooted again. After this I was able to reenable spotify connect again. However the music still stops playing after a few minutes.
Check the output of
journalctl -u spotify
See below. The music started at around 14:13 and ended at around 14:17. A portion of a single track was played. Thanks.

"Connection to server closed" sounds like an unstable connection. Might be either your home network or ISP. It just looses connection to the Spotify server. Are you using WiFi?
First, thank you for your continued support.
The raspberry pi is indeed connected with wifi (I could not connect it via ethernet as the router is too far from the amp). However, I am not experiencing the same issue when I use my iphone (which is also connected via wifi) and stream to the hifiberry via airplay, so it does appear to be a connection issue. Also, I have tried a few more times (including by playing different songs), and the connection seems to close exactly 3 minutes and 51 seconds after it is started.
WiFi is just my best guess. I can't say what else might causing it. Therefore I would recommend to try Ethernet instead.
Otherwise you can file a bug report for Spotifyd (that's the software responsible for Spotify playback).

That's a problem that some users see. We can't do anything about it. You might try HiFiBerrySO64 Alpha 7 and activate the "Spotify Daemon" instead (you need to disable the default Spotify player first). That's an alternative Spotify player. Unfortunately there isn't really a player that seems to work perfectly, trying both and see what works best for you.
