Basic 2 rooms setup

Hello,

some context first:

I recently moved in my new home, and there is in ceiling speaker in the dining room and in the living room. I would like to use them.

In the living room its two Polk audio r10 speakers, and in the dining room its two paradigm speaker (cant see the model, but I guess its similar to the polk audio)

 

What I would like to do:

control all of them with the same raspberry, so I would need 4 outputs. But not at the same time. So either the 2 in the dining room, or the 2 in the living room.

Is it possible to do that with the beocreate model?

  If you want to run the same audio in both rooms it would be possible with the Beocreate, but you would have to create your own DSP profile for this and program something to do the switching. The easier way is just 2 Raspberry Pi/Amp2 systems.

  Just to be sure:

  Its possible to create a DSP profile to that disable any of the 4 speaker? I would need to create a profile for one room, and a second profile for the second room?

   

  Do I need to be running hifiberry OS to change the DSP profile? Or is there any other way to load it (DSP TCP toolkit maybe, not sure exactly what it does)?

  Oh and also, is there a case for a raspberry+beocreate?

  It is possible.. A simple way would be to create a DSP profile with 4 volume controls. This way you could control the volume of each speaker independently. To change these you would need dsptoolkit. You can do this with HiFiBerryOS or with any other system running dsptoolkit. There wouldn't be any UI support anyway. Before even thinking about this, I would recommend that you have a look at some sample profiles first to see if you're confident that you can do this:

  Today, there is no case for the Beocreate available.

  Just downloaded sigma studio and opened one of the project. It reminds me what I was doing at university :) So I guess I should be able to do what I want, even if it takes time

   

  So I would need to modify the default dsp profile to add volume controls (I would probably just use mute control). And then I can change the xml file easily with the dsp toolkit to actually mute the speaker that should be disabled?

  And I could still control the master volume from what ever software is playing the music in the pi?

   

  (Im not sure about the interactions of the sigma studio project and xml files)

  The XML profile will be created from SigmaStudio:

  You can add mute switches or others. What you then do with dsptoolkit is basically control these from command line. You just do what SigmaStudio does - writing values to memory cells on the Pi, e.g. something like
  
  dsptoolkit write-mem 0x671 0
  
  BTW: I would use a simple "multiply" cell for this as this give you a simple control that you can write 0 or 1 to it top enable/disable it.
  
  If the DSP profile you create supports the controls of our original profile and has them mapped in teh metadata section, you will also be able to use functions like the main volume control.
  
  I now have another idea: You can even do this with our Beocreate default profile by the MUTE function for each speaker in the "advanced" settings:
