I assumed the Raspi pins 6,8,10 are accessible through the HiFiBerry board and wanted to connect a serial console
but pin headers are too fine for standard dupont connectors. Have to solder or is it another typ of standard I don't know about? What is the reason for such a thin pin headers?

If the connectors you're using don't give a good contact, you have to solder.

"Soldering on your HiFiBerry board will void warranty."
I found in my electronic scrap storage a cable with connector which fits perfectly.
Further investigation reveals, it's called XHPX connector.
Now you know what is soldered on your board ;-)
