What Power supply for RPi & AMP2?

Hi,

I am looking for a recommendation on what power supply (Voltage, Amps,..)would be best for the following setup:

- RPi 2B

- Hifiberry AMP 2

- Running PicorePlayer 6 as squeezeplayer

- Speakers: Set of 2 BOSE 151 Environmental Speakers (https://www.bosebelgium.be/nl_be/products/speakers/stereo_speakers/151-se-environmental-speakers.html)

- The distance between the speakers and the RPi&AMP is about 10m

Currently we are using a DC12V 2Apower supply and at a normal volume, the sound is OK, but when we turn up the volume, the sound starts to crackle and it doesn't sound 'clear' anymore. I have no idea what could be the cause of this. The only thing I can think of is the power supply not being able to provide enough power.

Also, when there is no music being played or during some 'silent moments' in a song, there is a popping sound. I read some articles that this might be a hardware failure. Is that a possibility?

  I bought a Mean Well GST60A18 at Reichelt Here in Germany together with a pi4 and amp2, which is afaik the same as the recommended in the hifiberry shop. Do not know if it cures your issues but works nicely with my setup.

  Hi Bart Cleeren.  I am using a 65W (18v at ~3.6A) power supply with the Amp2, and it does a pretty good job driving a pair of Bose 501s.  The specific power adapter I ended up with is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DWWJBK7   

  NOTE:  the adapter I reference comes with a barrel connector that won't fit, so I cut it off and used the power terminals.  Kudos to HiFiBerry for providing both options.  This 90W adapter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C6YB2FJ) might work without having to cut off the connector, but I haven't tried it and there is conflicting information in some product descriptions regarding whether 5.5 x 2.5mm and 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel connectors are interchangeable.
