No sound over Hifiberry Digi+ on S/PID.RX

I have bought and put together a new RPI 4 and a new Hifiberry Digi+ Standard. Getting sound out of the Digi+ on the S/PID.RX is not possible. However I can get Sound through the AIF configuration.

Alsamixer indicates on F4 that “this sound device does not have any capture controles”.

I have added the line : dtoverlay = hifiberry-digi to the /boot/config.txt and have fixed the rasp so that overlays are permitted.

However none of this works and I am at my wits end. What else can be done?

I would like advice, am capable of working in Linux a bit

I have two RPI 1b cards with a Digi card each and those work fine with some adjustments to the software as I once read it described for OpenElec.

Can anyone offer assistance?

  What are you trying to do? Did you try to change the SPDIF source to RX? It is normal that you won't get any sound with this. Why dod you want to change this at all?

  HifiBerry Team,

  I want a super hifi signal from the digi+.  Your specification of the digi+ tells me that it can work with 192kHz and 24 bit. This on SPDIF.

  The AIF signal is the signal from de Rasberry it self and that is not what I want. 

  I tried also the next line in /etc/modules

  snd_soc_bcm2711

  #bcm2711_dmaengine

  snd_soc_hifiberry_digi

  This is infomation from mij RPI 1 and that one works with SPDIF

  However in  the second line is dmaengine  and I don't know what this means. dmaengine can be different in the RPI 4

  Can you help me ??

  There is a misunderstanding here. AIF mean that the audio data will be delivered from the Pi. That's exactly what you want.

  Is this then the 192 kHz/24 bit system ?

  Sure. The Digi+ outputs data just as the application sends it. If you're application is sending 192/24, the Digi+ will output it.
