Hi,
I have been using a Raspberry Pi 3 with Hifiberry Digi+ standard running Libreelec.
Except from a restart (freeze) about once a month, it has been working fine for over a year.
But yesterday I did a restart becasue of a freeze, and after that I have not been able to get the sound output to work.
I tried different settings on the reciever first, to no luck.
Then I checked audio output settings in Kodi, to no luck.
I then checked the Hifiberry optical out, and I cant see any red light emitting when I pull out the optical audio cable.
Not sure how to troubleshoot it any further?
This is the output seen when I type "aplay -l" in SSH:

HiFiBerry team Best initial guess would be a corrupted SD card. Try a fresh installation on a new SD card.

Dan Nameo Well, embarrassing - but a good ending at least...
Turns out it was weird Kodi settings first, combined with a faulty reciever configuration (when I tried to fix it).
While flashing another card to troubleshoot, I thought I would check and see if everything was connected correctly, physically inside the case.
I then saw the green light on the hifiberry card and thought that maybe I wasnt playing music/audio output while check for the "red optical out"-light.
And sure enough, after having another go at Kodi configuration and playing a movie which I knew had Dolby Digital audio content, I saw the red light :)
Then I knew it basically had to be the reciever...
Thank you for your swift response though!
