Hifiberry OS with USB DAC

Until my Hifiberry HATs arrive I wanted to try hifiberry OS with a USB DAC in Roon (I used a Dragonfly Black) While everything seems ok in Roon - the endpoint is seen by Roon and I can play music on it there is no sound. Is an external USB DAC not supported? Does hifiberry os only allow hifiberry HATs? Or is there some configuration that I missed? Thank you

  HiFiBerryOS only works with HiFiBerry sound cards. You can't use any USB sound cards with it.

  Is this something you're planning to change in the future? I would like to build a multiroom system partly with my main living room DAC, partly with your boards. If they can't work together, this is a dealbreaker.

  No, we don't plan to do this. Feel free to use any other software with your USB DAC, but HiFiBerryOS won't support it. You might check with the manufacturer of your USB DAC what software they offer or recommend.
